Fleetwood Town Community Trust works closely with primary schools within the Wyre Borough to support healthy and active lifestyles, as well as delivering key messages to create positive futures.

The Premier League Primary Stars programme uses the appeal of the Premier League and professional football clubs to inspire children to learn, be active and develop important life skills. The learning is connected to the real world of sport to enthuse pupils when tackling challenging PSHE topics such as resilience, diversity, self-esteem and anti-bullying.

At Fleetwood Town Community Trust, we also deliver within our Premier League Primary Stars programme, extra-curricular clubs which include breakfast, lunchtime or after school clubs.

As well as these, throughout the academic year, we deliver Premier League Primary Stars competitions focusing on a variety of sports aiming to engage and support the development of individuals through giving them opportunities to take part in competition outside of school.

The Premier League Primary Stars programme delivers a Maths and English intervention programme – which we look to deliver to this to pupils in Year 5 and 6. We feel by using the power of football, it hopefully engages pupils and increase their attainment in these areas, as well as engaging them academically through the use of sport and in particular football.

Premier League Primary Stars is also aimed at teachers. We aim to develop the skills within the PE curriculum as well as helping them develop their knowledge and understanding on PE lessons. We offer individual CPD training for these teachers as well as Teacher CPD workshops, where we invite teachers from multiple schools which allows us to focus in on certain aspect of the National PE Curriculum.

There are plenty of benefits for both children and teachers. This programme allows teachers to widen their knowledge on PE and also improve their PE delivery skills, which will help benefit the children they work with.

The key benefits it has for children is that it allows them learn, be active and also develop important life skills. We also aim to engage and improve the enjoyment of pupils taking part in physical activity and sport, increasing motivation and confidence to continue their participation in sport either during our clubs or entering a sporting pathway.

Stay tuned, as we have some fun activities to come your way over the next seven days!
