Fleetwood Town National Citizen Service (NCS) presented Men’s Shed – Healthier Fleetwood with a cheque of over £500 as part of their chosen charity project.

Two groups from the NCS project planned and delivered their own charity events as part of their social action project and selected Men’s Shed as their chosen charity, with a cheque for a whopping £559.04 presented to the group.

‘Darkness to light walk’ was one of the groups fundraising event, as they walked from St. Annes to Blackpool Tower, setting off at 4am in complete darkness and arriving at Blackpool Tower as the sun rose.Another event was a ‘Colour walk’, with this group raising money and awareness for mental health by dressing up in bright clothing and accessories. With the walk from Rossall School to Fleetwood Promenade, those in attendance really made an effort and even brought their dogs for a stroll down the seafront.

Men’s Sheds have been set up across the country as a way to offer support and friendship in a non-judgemental environment, and a group of local residents have now established a group in Fleetwood.

They meet for three sessions a weeks, with all at The Pavillion, Memorial Park in Fleetwood, with the times as follows:

Thursday – 10am-12pm

Sunday – 10am-12pm

The third session is on Wednesdays from 10am to mid-afternoon, and includes a breakfast for Armed Forces Veterans as well as other activities.

If you require any further information or are interested in attending any of the sessions, please contact callum.spence@fleetwoodtownfc.com, or call the Community Trust office on (01253) 208442.
