Fleetwood Town Community Trust’s Community Sports College have completed their first week in Spain on their Erasmus Educational Trip, and here is what the students have been up to over the last seven days.

After arriving in Alicante last Monday, it has been a very eventful week for the BTEC students as they’ve dived into classroom based activities, coaching outside in the Spanish sunshine and enjoyed live Spanish football at the home of Division Two side, Elche – where the match finished one a piece with all enjoying their first experience of European football.

The students have taken part in daily training sessions at the local 11-a-side pitches, as well as using the indoor futsal facilities – which were on site.

With it being an educational trip, there has been time spent in the classroom. First years have focused on the Sports Coaching aspects of the course, whilst the Second years have looked at the rules, regulations and officiating in the sport.

You can’t go to Spain and not head to the beach, and that’s what the BTEC group did midway through the first week. Walking down the seafront to playing beach volleyball, it has been all fun and games.

Students have been a credit to the Community Sports College, and with awards for their efforts in all activities, we’d like to say a huge well done to Sophie Slater, Ben Knapman and Blake Bennett – who have been chosen for the students of the week.
