Fleetwood Town Community Trust are delivering assemblies and sessions across schools on the Fylde Coast as part of their Premier League Primary Stars programme.

The Writing Stars programme launched their poetry competition centred on the theme of diversity, which was inspired by the poem written specially for this competition, Beautifully different, Wonderfully the same by Joseph Coelho.

The poem and subject of diversity was chosen to encourage us to think of ways to celebrate similarities and differences that bring us together, and these are themes that run through this programme.

Key Stages One and Key Stage Two children across the local area are encouraged to write a poem based around the theme. Pupils in KS1 should write the poem as a group or class, whereas KS2 are encouraged to write individual poems.

Some famous faces will be judging the poems written by the children with ex-professional footballer, and England centre-half, Rio Ferdinand being one of those, along side singer and songwriter, Olly Murs, and poet Joseph Coelho.

The Writing Stars competition closes on Friday 21st December, so there is still plenty of time for you and your school to get involved. There are some fantastic prizes to be won with one being a visit from the Premier League, and the Premier League trophy coming to your school. More prizes such as a framed version of your winning poem, and a bag of goodies for your school can be won!
