The Trust have delivered the initiative for eight years now, supporting children aged 6-18 years old and giving them the opportunity to take part in a range of sport and physical activities, free of charge. All activities are delivered by qualified coaches with sessions also available for children with additional needs. Throughout the last 12 months, the programme has seen over 670 participants attend and with 21% of those going into alternative grassroot sporting activities on a frequent basis.

Carol Southern, Active Lives Manager a Wyre Council added, “We are delighted to partner with FTFCCT on the delivery of the successful TrySport programme in Wyre. Our partnership enables a free and varied sports and physical activity programme is available to children and young people across Wyre to help them to become more active. It enables them to try different sports and activities that they haven’t taken part in previously and I would encourage as many children to come down and enjoy being active at one of the fun and friendly sessions.”

Community Cohesion & Inclusion at the Trust, John Hartley explained, “I’m really proud to see how the TrySport initiative has developed over he pas few years, engaging with children anywhere from Fleetwood to Garstang. The programme is inclusive for anybody, no matter the ability, gender or background with a range of sports to choose from throughout the week.“
