John first started his involvement with the Trust in 2012 as he volunteered on a variety of community provisions including activity and holiday camps. In more recent years he has led on a range of community development projects and more recently forming part of the senior management team within the charities organisational structure. Within the previous 12 months he has taken on interim roles as Deputy CEO and Acting CEO.
John said, “I am thrilled to have been appointed as CEO of Fleetwood Town Community Trust. Over the past 10 years I have witnessed its growth first hand and it’s an incredibly exciting time to lead the charity as it takes its next steps.”
“I’m privileged to be working with such an enthusiastic team who are passionate about the work that they do across our communities. I see a real opportunity to work with our key stakeholders to ensure we achieve what was originally set out in our strategy whilst developing innovative projects to serve the local people.”
Since 2021, the Trust has been delivering its strategy, which seeks to help local people create healthy habits for life, looking to raise aspirations and ambition within the district whilst developing stronger, healthier more active communities.
Chair of Trustees, Pete Murphy added, “The Community Trust has had a period of change over the past 12 months. We appointed a new CEO last year but for personal reasons it wasn’t to be. John acted as the Deputy CEO and worked very closely with his predecessor to ensure there was a smooth transition. Rather than advertise for a new CEO so suddenly the Board provided John with a chance to step up, supported by our HR Advisor he has grasped the nettle with both hands.”
“The Trust continued to deliver a first class service to all our partners and has thrived. John has delivered on all our asks and it has given me great pleasure to offer him the full time CEO role, with the full backing of the Trust’s board. We are confident that we will continue to grow under his leadership and the Trust will continue to help our community be the best that it can be.”
We wish John every success in his new role!
