Fleetwood Town FC Community Trust will be running a BTEC Open Day this Saturday at Poolfoot Farm Training facility. The BTEC Open Day is an opportunity for potential students and parents to find out about our fantastic course.
In addition, we will be supplying free match day tickets for the Fleetwood Town FC vs Southend United game for those who attend the BTEC Open Day. Currently 4th versus 7th in what could be a crucial game in our promotion push this season.
Fleetwood Town FC Community Trust offers an education programme for students to become more employable through BTEC Level 3 and Foundation Degree courses. In 2015/16, Fleetwood Town FC Community Trust had 14 students enrolled to our courses. The 14 students completed the year with 100% achievement on BTEC, with 7 going onto higher education studies at Edge Hill University or Blackpool and The Fylde College studying Sports Therapy and Sports Coaching. In 2016/17 we have 21 students enrolled, who have already completed their level 1 Futsal coaching qualification and are well on their way to achieving upwards of 100 hours work experience in around all aspects of Fleetwood Town FC.
Futsal Project Officer David Walton believes the Education pathway and courses available at Fleetwood Town FC Community Trust provide a fantastic route for students who want to have a career in sports.
David said, “The education pathway here at Fleetwood Town FC Community Trust opens the door to a wide range of sporting opportunities and progression to all students, progressing into coaching, fitness training, physiotherapy, PE teaching, performance analysis and refereeing. Students train in football and futsal every day for a minimum of 4.5 hours a week on the with UEFA qualified Fleetwood Town FC coaches, under the direction of the English Football League Trust, Alongside the use of the gym facilities at our state of the art training complex. Training will be supplemented with fortnightly regular fixtures against other EFL football teams, representing professional clubs, in the English Football League Trust Futsal League. The BTEC Level 3 allows students to enrol on a BTEC education programme that includes a first-class experience of coaching in the sports industry whilst gaining a range of coaching qualifications. The uniqueness of Fleetwood Town is we are the only Football league education programme that is delivered alongside and at the clubs first team training facilities, sharing all facilities with the professionals and creating unique work experience opportunities to all students”
