The Community Trust is back with a range of new programmes

We are delighted to announce that Fleetwood Town Community Trust will be back up and running from next week with a range of programmes to engage our local communities.

The recent pandemic turned the world upside down and it’s the most vulnerable people that have been hit the hardest, so we cannot wait to get back to doing what we do best – enriching lives.

The Trust’s goal is to improve the lives of the people on the Fylde Coast through participation in sport and exercise, and it’s through our range of programmes that we can reach the community’s most vulnerable residents, and make a positive difference to their lives.

Earlier in the year, the Trust was selected as BES Utilities’ official Corporate Social Responsibility partner, and their generous sponsorship has allowed us to increase our offering, even during this strange time, and enrich the lives of even more individuals within our local communities.

We would like to assure you that we are following Government guidelines and the health and safety of staff and programme participants is our highest priority.

Staff have been working hard behind the scenes to enhance existing programmes and develop new opportunities.

The following programmes will commence in August:

Summer of sport
This programme is designed to provide a variety of sports across Wyre to young people aged 6-16 over a 4-week period. They will be able to try different sports such as street dance, dodgeball, football and rock climbing, and since lockdown measures have eased, we are keen to get young people back outdoors in a safe and enjoyable environment, so the programme also includes outdoor activities such as kwik cricket, rounders and fun games so people can get back out socializing with peers and exercising. There are limited places available, so to secure your spot, please contact Josh Handley at Josh.Handley@fleetwoodtownfc.com or on 07734 968937.

Walking football
This is a session which has grown in popularity and stature, from a community session to its own football club, Fleetwood Town Flyers. An over 50s walking football club, which promotes health and wellbeing, and encourages participants to get out in the fresh air, in a fun and friendly footballing environment. The Club also boasts three competitive squads for over50’s, over 60’s and over 65’s who all compete in both local and national tournaments. In this current climate, they aren’t taking on new members, however click here to keep updated and for more information about the Fleetwood Town Flyers.

Sports camps
The Trust is running a Summer Sports Camp provision at Carleton Green Primary School for children aged 5-11 years old, from Monday 3rd August – Friday 28th August. Places are limited at 30 children per day, and will be placed in bubbles of 10, with their own designated coach. Their health and safety is our top priority, so children and staff will have temperature checked each day. Click here for more information about the dates and times, and to book your place.  Please note, there are limited places available and bookings must be made by 12pm on Friday 31st August.

Keep Doing Good
The Trust is launching their adapted NCS programme, Keep Doing Good, on Monday 10th August, based at Fleetwood High School. This is a new initiative aimed to engage young people aged 15-17 years old in developing their life skills into steps towards college, university or employment. The project also collaborates with local charities and organisations through social action to support the local community in getting back on its feet following COVID 19 through multiple volunteering opportunities.  If you would like further information or to sign up, please click here, or alternatively call John, our NCS Manager on 01253 208442.

The sessions £5 each (card payment on the day) and are open for 5-8 year olds, taking place on Poolfoot Farm’s 4G pitches throughout August.
