In order to mark the end of Armed Forces Week 2021 Our Positive Pathways Co-ordinator Rick Clement decided to do a 10 mile walk/wheel from Central Pier Blackpool to the Comrades Club in Fleetwood.
Rick invited fellow Veterans and families to join him in order to raise awareness about Armed Forces Day and also the role he does for the Community Trust helping Veterans.
Rick was joined by his peers, Justin Singleton at Blackpool FC Community Trust and Lee Geraghty from AFC Fylde Community Foundation to show the all round support in the area.
After the event Rick spoke of his pride and thanks for all involved.
“I’d like to thank everyone who helped make today happen, Anita Cottam at JD Gyms Thornton Cleveleys who kindly donated bottled water and the Gym facilities for the halfway point.
To Lee Heslop of L&L Travel for making sure we got to the starting line on time.
To the Mayor of Wyre Andrea Kay for rallying the troops.
Finally to all who came and supported the walk, it was amazing to spend time getting to know you all and catch up with some old faces. The aim was to raise the profile of Armed Forces Week and the roles locally here to help those having issues. PTSD, mental health, addiction and many, many more issues are attacking the Military community but we stand together to fight back. Thank you again everyone. This could become an annual event.”
