On Saturday 20th January we welcome a number of Community Heroes who have been nominated from the Community Trust pool of participants, volunteers and stakeholders, acknowledging their commitment to their community over the last 12 months.

The EFL have this season launched the “EFL Community Weekends” raising awareness of the huge successes taking place on our doorstep in and around our football clubs. The initiative aims to congratulate the exceptional work that takes place and recognise that their efforts don’t go un-noticed.

Ahead of the kick off to our eagerly anticipated fixture vs Portsmouth, we will introduce each Community Hero to the supporters where they will join the respective captains and match day officials in the arranged pre-match photograph.

The nominated heroes are:

Elizabeth Loftus – Liz is a crucial member of the Primary Care Network team in Fleetwood, dedicating her time alongside colleagues to support local residents with their mental wellbeing. Liz has also been involved in a number of events to support the wellbeing of local people, putting others needs ahead of her own.

Kevin Clarkson – Kevin has been an integral part of the Fleetwood Town Flyers Walking Football group over the past eight years, more recently as chairman of the voluntary run organisation. Over the years Kevin has supported over 250 people in accessing football at a slower pace to improve not only their physical but mental wellbeing, also.

Ali Bamber – Ali has played an instrumental part in grassroot football over the last few years supporting local club Wyre Villa as a committee member whilst dedicating additional time to encourage men suffering with poor mental health through football activity under the exceptional CIC, TeamKickabout.

Sara Clarke – Sara has worked with over a hundred people improving their mental health. Every Tuesday they hold a coffee morning for people in the community to get together and talk. Sara also makes house visits to check on people’s wellbeing. She has helped people find jobs and helped make them more dependent by giving them jobs on the coffee mornings and has offered cooking classes for participants.

Thank you all, for all you do!
