Fit for the Future

Monday morning saw the Community Trust hold their weekly ‘Fit for the Future’ session at St Teresa’s Primary School, where a number of over 60s got involved in physical activity.

Fit for the Future is a health and fitness programme that is held in four locations across the Wyre and Fylde area, to keep people fit and active.

Two sessions take place on Monday, with one at Poulton Teanlowe Community Centre (1:30pm-2:30 pm), and with the earlier session on at St Teresa’s Primary School in Thornton-Cleveleys between 10-11am.

Tuesday sees the session at St Wulstan’s Church Hall in Fleetwood (10-11am), with Friday’s session at Carleton St Hilda’s Village Hall between 1:30-2:30 pm.

The over 60s take part in activities such as dodgeball, football, boccia, hockey, and tennis, with one attendee Anne, saying she thoroughly enjoys coming to these events to keep fit and meeting friends during the week.

“I know a lot of people that come here through the church I go to, people I live near with neighbours, and friends,” said Anne.

“I do what I can when I come, and if I can’t do it, that is fine with me and the Fleetwood Town staff.

“I would tell people who haven’t been to come down, have fun and do what they can. You would get a lot of enjoyment from attending and

“I come here as when you live on your own, it’s nice to get out the house one or two days a week and you meet people. It really makes a lot of difference.”

If you know anybody who would be interested in attending one of the four sessions, please contact John Hartley via email at john.hartley@fleetwoodtownfc.com, or by calling 01253 208442. The first session is FREE, with the following sessions costing just £3.
