Local children enjoy Community Trust Summer Camps
Hundreds of children enrol on Fleetwood Town Summer Camps
Over 100 children from across the Wyre and Fylde have signed up to one of the three Summer Camps held by the Fleetwood Town Community Trust.
With the Summer Holiday’s well underway, three weeks have now passed since the start of the Trust’s first sessions, and the camps at Poolfoot Farm, Thornton Primary School, and Flakefleet Primary School are busier than ever.
Two of the camps (Thornton and Flakefleet) are sports camps, where children will participate in a number of sporting activities such as hockey, tennis, dance, dodgeball and many more. This is a fantastic way for the children to try sports they might not have played before, whilst also gaining valuable skills along the way.
The Soccer School at Fleetwood Town’s Poolfoot Farm solely focuses on learning new skills, drills and playing football matches. The children have been surprised a number of times since the start of the camp, with Town’s first team players making appearances. Bobby Grant, Conor McAleny, and Gethin Jones are just some of the names who have made a visit.
Jason Sharp, the Trust’s Senior Sports Development Officer is happy with how the camps are going and knows how much fun both the coaching staff and children are having.
He added: “We put these sessions on to help the children in sports, however alongside that, we also try to focus on team bonding skills and social skills because these are important skills for children.
“There are so many activities happening across all three camps, and this gives children the opportunity to participate in sports that they might not have tried before. This really is a bonus of all of our camps.”
If you would like to book your child, or children onto any of the three camps; please call the Fleetwood Town Community Trust on (01253) 208 442. You can turn up to any of the three locations and pay on the day.
