Last week we welcomed the PDC and their official Bullseye Maths programme to our local community

We started off the week at Poulton St Johns with a visit from PDC superstar and current World Youth Champion Gian van Veen, fresh from beating World no1 Luke Humphries a day or two before. The children enjoyed a darting masterclass from the worlds 18th best player as well as the normal educational aspect which the Bullseye Maths programme offers, with plenty of maths and teamwork involved throughout.
Tuesday morning provided our staff with the opportunity for a CPD morning around the delivery of darts in a primary school setting down at the Winter Gardens. This is in the hope that the Trust can cement a further partnership with the JDC (Junior Darts Corporation) and darts manufacturer Winmau for further delivery in primary school settings and externally. What followed was Tally and Olie delivering with the Bullseye Maths team a traditional session with Lever House school from Preston on Tuesday afternoon with a visit from Jermaine Wattimena, ahead of his showdown with eventual winner Luke Littler the following day.
Wednesday saw a visit from Manchester United Foundation, with their staff receiving the same training as our staff the day before.
Embracing the Winter Gardens on Thursday was two local grassroots football teams, with the PDC/JDC keen on looking at further pathways in introducing darts to as many youngsters as possible and this was seen as a terrific opportunity. What followed was a visit of the Fleetwood Town Community Trust’s ‘Go Beyond’ group who experienced their own crazy walk on, a chance to walk on the iconic stage as well as lift the World Matchplay trophy.
Friday, and a perfect end to an unbelievable week, saw us in our very own dome delivering a Bullseye Maths session to the Kelloggs football camp that is taking place at Poolfoot Farm. As well as this, it was an opportunity for the First Team to show their skills on the oche, having several challenges and having a game or two refereed and scored by Kirk Bevins, a leading PDC Referee and former Countdown champion.
