We have an exciting opportunity for a Chief Executive Officer to join our team at Fleetwood Town Community Trust (FTCT). This role involves providing inspirational senior leadership of the Fleetwood Town Community Trust, developing, and delivering an ambitious strategic plan that increases both the Trust’s and Football Club’s brand, impact, and reputation.

Strategic responsibility for the financial and business growth of Fleetwood Town Community Trust, ensuring sustainability and diversity of income streams, which can be reinvested in community-based activity for the benefit of the Fylde coast and its communities.

With a strong, dedicated Board, a great team in place and a clear mission, we firmly believe the Trust is set for an exciting decade. However, to achieve our ambitious plans, we are looking to appoint an inspirational and strategic senior leader as our FTCT CEO, taking over from the current CEO when he leaves to pursue other opportunities.

Working closely with the Board and the Trust’s three Senior Managers in particular, the FTCT CEO will have executive responsibility for governance, growth and financial sustainability of the charity.

The FTCT CEO will be an inspirational leader both internally and externally, working to secure and cultivate diverse income streams and high-impact partnerships, whilst ensuring we continue to operate with excellent systems and processes which support our talented staff to do what they do best.

As an ambassador for both the Community Trust and Football Club, the FTCT CEO will foster a positive culture, ensuring staff at all levels across the organisation are inspired and encouraged to succeed and develop in-role.

The Trustees are looking for a high calibre CEO that can deliver and effectively communicate our vision, mission, and values clearly. We want someone who can make Fleetwood Town FC Community Trust one of the leading and most respected Community Trusts in the country.

Above all else, the successful candidate will embody the values of the Community Trust, as well as mirroring those of the Football Club, driving our mission to improve lives in a way that leaves a positive legacy for decades to come.

You will be comfortable managing executive and non-executive board level meetings, with the ability to influence and establish credibility as a trusted leader across all our networks.

We will be particularly interested in candidates’ business development experience. How you have gained these key skills is less important, but we know that a strong track record in growing and developing an organisation will be a critical foundation for success in the role.

The Trust has sound financial foundations which, along with our enviable track record, provides a fantastic base on which to grow our exciting work, but we are especially interested in candidates who can help us capitalise on new opportunities aligned to our strategy.

You will also need to be creative, take innovative approaches to solving problems and able to continually motivate and inspire all around you.

At interview, we will ask you about relationships you have cultivated with related and/or associated parties. This might have been within a professional sporting environment or elsewhere, but demonstrable experience of this will be essential for us.

Appointing a new leader to the Trust at this stage of our growth is one of the most important things we will do as a Board in the next decade, which is why we are pleased to have appointed Carole Sweeting of Sweeting HR Ltd to help us through the process.

We strongly recommend an informal discussion about the role (including the work and impact of Fleetwood Town FC Community Trust, their strategic ambition, and the local area) with Pete Murphy (Chair of the Board of Trustees) before you apply. Please contact him to arrange a call back at or Hugh McCaw (Deputy Chair) at
