Jamie Finds His Future

Dreams do come true…

Jamie first started his journey with Fleetwood Town Community Trust in early 2021, where he was referred into the Find Your Future initiative. Throughout programme delivery he was taught crucial employability skills and provided with mentoring which helped him through mock interviews and making improvements with his CV. At this stage Jamie shared that his dream was to coach soccer in the USA, taking himself out of his comfort zone and to support young athletes in their development.

His successful graduation on the programme led to the Trust employing him as part of the Government’s Kickstart scheme to get young adults back into employment. His role involved coaching a variety of health and wellbeing projects across Wyre as well as supporting children in Primary schools. Jamie has since took the lead on our Man v Fat programme delivery with season one recently finalising, with one member losing 10% of their body weight.

Jamie explained, “Find Your Future helped me consolidate everything I already knew and supported me to put it into practice. My overall goal was to get into employment, doing something that I love… and I did just that. During my time with Fleetwood Town Community Trust I have built up my experience coaching all age groups whilst also volunteering with BJFF grassroots football club. The skills I have developed have lead me to being in the position of coaching in the USA.”

Community Cohesion & Inclusion Manager, John Hartley added, “It has been a pleasure to witness the journey that Jamie has been on, he has been an integral part of the team here and I’ve no doubt at all that he will be a success in his future endeavours.”

Jamie now finishes his employment with the Trust and in the coming days will be boarding the plane to Portland, where he will indeed live his dream of coaching in the USA! Fleetwood Town Community Trust could not be prouder of Jamie’s achievements over the past 18 months and wish him every success for the future!
