National Citizens Service (NCS) is a four phase programme split over three weeks for young people aged 16-17 years old (Year 11 and first year at college).
The first week of the programme (Monday to Friday) is always a residential trip away, and this year the Fleetwood Town Community Trust are taking students to North Wales. The participants will take part in all sorts of outdoor activities such as: Mountain Climbing, Abseiling, Kayaking and much more.
Activities will be planned for the evening, which aim to both mentally and physically challenge the participants whilst developing team building skills and confidence. It’s a week those who attend will not forget for a very long time.
The second residential week is normally based at the University of Cumbria in Lancaster. This week in particular looks at developing skills aimed to enhance their adult living post compulsory education. For example students will get a taste of cooking, CV writing, business planning, and also entertainment – who doesn’t like to laugh!
The final week of the NCS programme will be based at Highbury Stadium this year. The aim of this week is to help inspire young people, and to find a local group that they are passionate about in their community, by either raising awareness or money towards local charities. Previous graduates have supported charities that provide care towards mental health and those that are isolated or homelessness.
NCS is a nationally recognized initiative that empowers young people to better themselves in an inclusive environment and to finalise the experience of a lift time. Each person who completes the full four weeks will receive a certificate signed by the Prime Minister at our Graduation party at Highbury Stadium.
We have start dates of Monday 13 July 2020 and Monday 3 August 2020 available for any young people aged 16-17 years old to sign up.
