Fleetwood Town Community Trust is delighted to announce that West Lancs Group has joined the organisation as its first-ever STEM Ambassador, marking an exciting new chapter in the Trust’s commitment to inspiring young people across Fleetwood, Wyre and the wider Fylde Coast.

The partnership will see West Lancs Group work alongside Fleetwood Town Community Trust to support the development and delivery of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) opportunities for children and young people. Through engaging activities, educational workshops and real-world industry insights, the collaboration aims to raise aspirations, develop skills and showcase the diverse career pathways available within STEM sectors.

As part of the partnership, Fleetwood Town Community Trust and West Lancs Group will engage with 15 schools across Fleetwood, Wyre and the Fylde Coast throughout the year. Pupils will take part in a series of exciting STEM challenges and learning opportunities designed to encourage teamwork, creativity, problem-solving and innovation.

The programme will culminate in a flagship STEM Competition, with participating schools competing for the title of Fleetwood Town Community Trust STEM Champions 2026. The winning school will be crowned at a special celebration event in December, recognising the achievements of young people who have demonstrated excellence, innovation and enthusiasm for STEM learning.

Speaking about the partnership, Tom Hutton, CEO of Fleetwood Town Community Trust, said:

“We are incredibly proud to welcome West Lancs Group as our first STEM Ambassador. This partnership represents a significant investment in the future of young people across our communities. Together, we will work with 15 schools to deliver inspiring STEM activities that bring learning to life and help young people understand the exciting opportunities available within science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The STEM Champions competition will create a fantastic platform for pupils to showcase their talents, and we are looking forward to crowning our first champions in December.”

Kev O’Toole, Managing Director of West Lancs Group, added:

“West Lancs Group is delighted to become Fleetwood Town Community Trust’s first STEM Ambassador. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to education, community development and creating opportunities for young people to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world. By bringing together education, industry and community expertise, the programme aims to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, technicians and innovators.
