Onward Together Case Study – Kit Fessey

The Armed Forces Covenant Trust funding bid has helped and assisted with the Onward Together programme that helps with loneliness, mental health and well-being through physical activities, social events, and various other sessions. Kit has been an integral part of the Fleetwood Town Veteran’s Community Trust since the group was set-up over 4 years ago.

She thrives and loves engaging with everyone around her. She also puts her name down for any trips or activities that we arrange through the Community Trust. These regular sessions have over twenty-five veterans attend weekly.

Kit says, “The Veteran’s Community has helped me with loneliness, isolation and is now my new family.” She intends to keep coming to as many sessions as possible.

Tony Codling the Veteran’s Project Coordinator says “Kit is a much-loved member of the group who always makes others smile with her wit and fun personality and positive outlook. As one of the senior members of the group Kit is a fitting example to others of the benefits of joining in with our events. She has gained many friends within the group as well as openly talking about the improvements to her health and well-being. Social engagement from Kit has proven that joining the sessions has widened her friends list.”
