Coaching Stateside: Chelsea’s American Dream!

Earlier this year, Challenger Sports delivered an in-depth presentation at Poolfoot Farm to Fleetwood Town Community Sports College’s students, showcasing what they could offer which included 2 months of travelling around different states in America to be given the opportunity to coach football to a variety of different young people.

Chelsea Hopkins, a 2nd year degree student, took up the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a different setting and travelled to America with the hopes of improving her coaching skills whilst gaining more experiences outside of her comfort zone. With Challenger Sports she found this and more by putting her skills to the test by structuring and delivering a variety of sessions each week at different facilities in the Denver region, such as Colorado, Nebraska and Wyoming.

After her two month experience, Chelsea told us: “My experience with Challenger Sports has changed me as a coach, due to being put in positions outside of my comfort zone, such as coaching children at younger ages, working with larger groups of children and being more independent when planning and delivering sessions. It was an amazing opportunity to work with various people from around the world and it was great to travel each week to coach in different states.”
