New two-year funding will help more veterans develop skills, improve employability and reach their potential!

Fleetwood Town Community Trust has secured a two-year grant from the Veterans’ Foundation to expand its support for veterans across Wyre. The funding will enable the Trust to employ a second Specialist Support Officer, strengthening its ability to provide tailored support to veterans and help more people develop the skills and confidence needed to move towards employment.

The additional role will build on the Trust’s existing veterans’ support programme, which has been successfully supporting former members of the armed forces for the past four years. Through its expanded provision, Fleetwood Town Community Trust will continue to support veterans with learning and development opportunities, employability skills and personalised guidance to help them overcome barriers and achieve their full potential.

The new Specialist Support Officer will allow the Trust to reach and support even more veterans across the Wyre area, complementing the range of services and programmes already available. Fleetwood Town Community Trust is committed to supporting people within the local community and helping veterans build positive futures.

By providing the right guidance, opportunities and practical support, the Trust aims to help thousands of veterans unlock their potential and take positive steps towards employment. The two-year grant from the Veterans’ Foundation represents an important investment in the Trust’s ongoing work and will ensure that more veterans can access the specialist support they need to develop new skills, increase their confidence and progress towards meaningful employment.

Jane Gurney, Chief Executive Officer, Veterans’ Foundation said, “We’re delighted to support Fleetwood Town Community Trust with this funding, which will enable them to employ a dedicated Specialist Support Officer and engage and support more veterans across Wyre. Having someone there to listen, understand individual circumstances and provide tailored guidance can make a real difference, helping veterans build confidence, develop new skills and take positive steps towards employment and a brighter future.”
