In partnership with British Heart Foundation and Lancashire County Council, Fleetwood Town Community Trust will deliver hundreds of blood pressure checks in the hope of creating a healthier local community.

According to the British Heart Foundation, as many as five million adults in the UK have undiagnosed high blood pressure, and those sufferers are up to three times more likely to have a heart attack or stroke. The only way to know whether you have high blood pressure is to have it measured.

Fleetwood Town Community Trust will carry out a total of 500 blood pressure checks in the local areas across two years. The initiative began last week when over 30 members of staff from Commercial Power visited Poolfoot Farm to have their blood pressure taken.

Stacey Irving, Head of Operations at Commercial Power, said:

“I think it’s important to embrace every opportunity that helps benefit the staff and more importantly highlights any health concerns so they can be addressed. Anything that involves early intervention can potentially save lives and it’s nice to know the staff are being looked after.”

If you would like your blood pressure checking, we will soon be announcing a date for a drop in session, so ‘like’ our Facebook page and keep your eyes peeled.
