Students and staff from Flakefleet Primary School braved the elements on Saturday as they sang their Christmas song ‘Light Up’ at Highbury Stadium.

Pupils and staff from the Fleetwood school have been enjoying national media attention following the release of their song, which is raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Saturday saw over 100 children from the school perform the song in front of the crowd at Fleetwood’s match against Burton Albion – and they braved the elements of wind, rain and sleet to share the Christmas spirit!

“The children and the headteacher David McPartlin are clearly a force to be reckoned with as they have been travelling all over the UK to get support.

“We’re delighted they were able to come along to Highbury and we wish them well.”

First team players have already lent their support to the school in a series of messages on social media, and Club Chairman Andy Pilley decided to invite the children to perform at Highbury in a bid to gain more support in their mission to secure the coveted chart position.

Andy said: “It is fantastic to see a local school gaining such massive positive publicity for this great cause.
