With thanks to the Lancashire Police Crime Commissioner (PCC), Clive Grunshaw, the Trust will continue to work in partnership with Fleetwood Neighbourhood Police to inspire young females through the “Empower Her” initiative, delivered weekly at the Fleetwood Youth Hub.

John Hartley, Chief Executive Officer of the Fleetwood Town Community Trust added, “The main aim of these sessions is to create a safe and inclusive space for girls in Fleetwood. Not just to allow them to be themselves, but to also offer them new opportunities they might not ordinarily have. By opening the girls up to new experiences, the hope is that we can support them in setting aspirations for their futures in Fleetwood. We want to show them that they can be themselves here and thrive in Fleetwood.”

Sgt. Andy Hill added, “In response to rising concerns about ASB and exploitation of young females in Fleetwood, local police and community partners have launched a targeted intervention program aimed at fostering resilience, increasing self-confidence and mitigating exploitation risks.”

The VAWG “Empower Her” project sees partners and stakeholders come together to provide a safe space for young females to be open with their feelings, not be judged and be fully supported in their decisions.”
