In their latest initiative to help the community, Fleetwood Town Community Trust will be providing food bank donations to local charity, The Mustard Seed Group.

Members of the local community are invited to leave donations at the reception of Poolfoot Farm (FY5 4HX), and a volunteer from Mustard Seed will collect these items on the last working day of every month.  You can also drop donations off at Mustard Seed’s shop situated at 39 Victoria Street, Fleetwood.

The Mustard Seed Group is an outreach charity for those who are lonely, vulnerable, in crisis or people experiencing short term difficulties and complications to their lives. They hold a weekly session where they offer hot meals and a place for people to relax and meet others in a safe environment.

Matt Hilton, Chief Executive of the Community Trust, said:

“The Mustard Seed Group relies heavily on food donations so the volunteers can prepare hot meals for those in need of support.  If we all donate an item or two, we can really help the charity improve the health and wellbeing of disadvantaged and vulnerable local residents.

“BES Utilities has joined us in this initiative, and I hope other local businesses can join us in collecting food bank donations for this really worthy cause. By pulling together as a community, we can have a real impact on the lives of those who rely on the Mustard Seed Group.”

As part of this initiative, chefs from Poolfoot Farm will attend sessions to provide cooking demonstrations, showcasing how you can make nice and easy meals using simple ingredients.

“Receiving support from Fleetwood Town Community Trust means a great deal to our charity,” said Hilary Craig, one of The Mustard Seed Group Managers. “We help people in crisis with food, household goods, and bedding, and we never turn anyone away empty handed. We provide hot meals to those in need, and it’s all prepped and served by volunteers. We rely heavily on donations of food and we’re really grateful to the Community Trust for choosing to help us.”

The charity meets on a Monday night at 6pm at St Peters Church, Lord Street, Fleetwood. Click here to find out more.
