Earlier in the year the Trust proudly announced a partnership with TeamKickabout CIC, an organisation who support Dad’s and Step Dad’s struggling with their mental health, using the power of football to exercise meet new likeminded people in a safe space.

TeamKickabout has delivered small, sided football at Poolfoot Farm, Thornton Cleveleys since 2020 and within the last 12 months have begun to play 11 a side fixtures against similar organisation’s across the North West region. The partnership has allowed the existing session to grow in volume, attracting more men and providing a supportive network to those in attendance, with referrals made available to relevant services should they be required.

Community Director of TeamKickabout, Graham Sims, explained, “Both myself and Peter feel incredibly proud to start a partnership with Fleetwood Town Community Trust is a massive step in bringing football sessions to dads as Poolfoot Farm and Community Trust have amazing ties in the community and to partner up can only add value to the community and help us both provide football and support to dads in the area.”

John Hartley, of the Trust added, “COVID 19 has played a huge part in everybody’s lives over the past two years and Wyre has seen an increase in those struggling with mental health, particularly in males. It is imperative that organisation’s such as TeamKickabout and ourselves support the local community through frequent physical activity and bringing people together.

Sessions take place every Tuesday evening at Poolfoot Farm, Thornton Cleveleys, FY5 4HX at 8.30pm.
