New Alternative Provision Launched to Support Young People in Fleetwood

Fleetwood Town Community Trust is proud to announce the launch of the new alternative provision programme designed to support young people who are finding it difficult to engage with mainstream education.

Delivered two days per week at the Community Trust Youth Hub in Fleetwood, the project offers the King’s Trust ‘Achieve’ and ‘Developing Resilience’ programmes. The provision is aimed at students who are struggling with school attendance or traditional classroom settings, providing them with a supportive environment to rebuild confidence, develop essential life skills and re-engage with learning.

Why This Provision Is Needed in Fleetwood
Fleetwood faces several challenges linked to educational engagement and future employability. The area experiences higher-than-average levels of deprivation, alongside lower educational attainment and progression outcomes for some young people. These factors can contribute to disengagement from education at an early age, increasing the risk of poor long-term outcomes.

Through our partnership with the Thrive Network and ongoing communication with local secondary schools, a clear gap was identified for a flexible, supportive alternative provision that focuses not only on academic development, but also on resilience, wellbeing and personal growth. Ross Powell (Head of Education) stated that “the project has been developed in response to that local need, and we are extremely excited to be able to increase our current education offer to further support young people in the community”.

Nicola Cropper (Secondary School Coordinator) is the delivery lead for the project and said “We are delighted to be delivering the Kings Trust Achieve Programme to provide students with a learner-centred curriculum which has been designed to develop skills and experience for life, whilst building confidence, self-awareness and resilience.”
