The seven players opted in to support themes across the local area which link into the Community Trust’s varied delivery programmes across Fleetwood and Wyre. Player Ambassadors are an important link between the Football Club and Community Trust and form part of the PFA framework. As a Community Trust, we are delighted to see the players show their passion for our provisions in the local area by opting in to be an ambassador.
The Chosen Ambassadors are:
Education – James Bolton
Health – Ryan Broom
Sport – Kayden Hughes
Inclusion – Carl Johnston
Women and Girls – Ronan Coughlan
Youth – Brendan Wiredu
Environment – Mackenzie Hunt
Brendon Wiredu – Fleetwood Town captain said: “It’s important that the players take interest in the community with it being such a tight-knit one. The players are seen as role models who should encourage good behaviour, good morals, and principles amongst the youngsters. It’s definitely something that’s close to my heart.”
Mike Tallentire, Player Engagement Officer for the Club/Trust said: “We are delighted to have the seven lads on board for the new season. It is important for the players to work with the community when at this football club as we pride ourselves on being a real community cohesive club.
Their dedication to our local area and the values they bring to our programs are a testament to the positive impact that can be achieved. Together, we look forward to creating stronger, healthier, more active Communities.”
On top of the PFA Ambassadors, Danny Mayor has agreed to become our ‘Champions’ role model.
Champions is an innovative intervention programme supporting young people, aged 10-25 with experience of or at risk of offending behaviours. The programme is delivered by nine football club community organisations (CCOs) across Lancashire which includes Fleetwood Town.
Look out later in the week of Danny meeting some of our Champions participants.
