This is a highly successful project that we as a trust are incredibly proud of. The programme not only delivers exercise options for those affected by Cancer and Cancer treatment, but also helps to build a support network and a strong sense of community.

One of our participants, ‘P’ has described feeling a lift from the very first session. “It gave me a mental boost straight away. I felt like I had a bit of direction again.” He started to notice improvements almost immediately in his mood, his confidence and his energy. “After just one class, I felt different. I’d lost weight, I had more mobility, I could touch my toes again. And mentally I was lighter. My partner noticed straight away. I looked and felt brighter.”

Cancer prehabilitation is the process of supporting individuals to improve their physical and mental wellbeing before starting or continuing treatment like surgery, chemotherapy or radiotherapy. It focuses on helping people build strength, improve resilience, and feel more in control at a time when everything can feel overwhelming. At Fleetwood Town Community Trust, our approach combines tailored exercise, social support and emotional wellbeing in a friendly, non-clinical environment.

At Fleetwood Town Community Trust, we’re passionate about supporting people through life’s toughest moments. Our Cancer Prehabilitation programme isn’t just about physical fitness. It’s about helping people build the strength, confidence and mindset to take control of their journey, even when life throws the unthinkable at them.

This has been made possible as part of a community fund of over half a million pounds set up from donations from the EFL, its charitable arm, EFL in the Community and The FA.
