The MenActive programme launched in 2017 with the aim of giving males over the age of 50 the opportunity to improve their mental and physical wellbeing through regular physical activity.

The sessions now take place at Fortitude Fitness in Poulton every Monday, 11am-12pm with activities such as interval training, circuit training and cardiovascular aimed to challenge each individual. Body measurements and blood pressure are taken every 12 weeks with the aim of seeing a decrease and an improvement towards body confidence and fitness.

Alex Herschell, aged 82, began his MenActive journey in February 2019 and has seen a huge impact on his day to day life. “I find the gym very soleless, whereas with MenActive we have a great group of gentleman that all contribute socially and have physically progressed immensely. My flexibility and strength, particularly around my knees and hips have improved, meaning my general wellbeing has improved.”
