John Hartley to leave the role as CEO of Fleetwood Town Community Trust

Fleetwood Town Community Trust can today announce that Chief Executive Officer John Hartley will be leaving his role after 13 years of dedicated service.

Since joining the Trust, John has played a pivotal role in strengthening its impact across Wyre and the wider community. Under his leadership, the Trust has expanded its community programmes, grown participation across health, education and inclusion initiatives, and strengthened partnerships with local organisations, schools and stakeholders.

During his tenure, the Trust has also achieved significant organisational progress, including securing new funding streams, increasing staff capacity, and enhancing the long-term sustainability of its work — ensuring more people than ever before can benefit from the power of football and community engagement. The external accolades of being named EFL League 2 CCO of the Year for 2025 and Wyre Council’s Charity of the Year for 2024 highlight the strong acknowledgment that the charity holds both regionally and nationally.

Reflecting on his time at the Trust, John said, “It’s been a real privilege to serve as CEO of Fleetwood Town Community Trust over the past three years. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together — from expanding our community reach and increasing participation, to building a strong, committed team and establishing solid foundations for the future. Most importantly, we have helped change lives and create opportunities for people of all ages, and that will always stay with me.

I would like to extend my appreciation towards the Board of Trustees for the continued support and guidance shown. It has been an honour to lead this Charity and to see first-hand the exceptional work that takes place conducted by our wonderful, dedicated workforce.”

John will continue in post for a handover period to support a smooth transition and ensure continuity across the Trust’s programmes and partnerships.
